Panelto Foods is an Irish Food company based in Longford and established in 2004. Panelto produces a range of high quality contemporary sandwich breads for the UK and Irish, retail and food service markets, from a highly automated world class bakery.  Panelto has recently gone through a major expansion doubling the size of the existing factory and workforce. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to lead the Quality function and team.


About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Technical & Product Development Manager, the individual with lead, grow and motivate a talented team of Quality Assurance staff. Assures consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice (GMP) systems; validating processes; providing documentation quality control and assurance expertise to our customers, suppliers and the operation in general. The role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual who would like to work in a dynamic and innovative growing environment.

What you will do:

  • Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; completing audits; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving customer complaints and problems; determining system improvements; implementing change.

  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.

  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.

  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analysing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, corrective actions, and re-validations.

  • Meets quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities.

  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.



  • Third level qualification in a food science or related discipline

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role as a Quality Assurance Manager

  • Experience in managing and control of Quality systems including HACCP and TACCP/VACCP

  • Comprehensive understanding of BRC audit requirements and the requirements of all the major retailers
